Africa’s Education and Workforce Future Takes Center Stage as Leaders Converge in Uganda for Landmark Continental Summit

Kampala, Uganda | November 12–13, 2026

Africa is set to witness one of its most significant education and workforce development gatherings as the African Center for Youth Development, Education, and Advocacy Initiative (ACYDEAI) convenes the 5th Annual Transnational Future of Education in Africa Conference in Kampala, Uganda.

Bringing together a powerful coalition of policymakers, academic institutions, development partners, private sector leaders, and youth innovators, the conference will drive critical conversations and solutions under the theme:

“The Future African Workforce: Education at the Intersection of AfCFTA, Innovation, and Employment.”

At a time when Africa’s youthful population—over 60% under the age of 25—represents both its greatest opportunity and its most urgent challenge, the conference aims to redefine how education systems can effectively prepare young people for the demands of a rapidly transforming global economy. With the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) opening new frontiers for trade, mobility, and economic growth, aligning education with workforce realities has become a continental priority.

The two-day summit will feature keynote addresses, high-level panel discussions, technical workshops, exhibitions, and research presentations designed to generate actionable solutions. Participants will engage on key issues including digital transformation, artificial intelligence in education, technical and vocational education and training (TVET), youth entrepreneurship, and policy innovation.

Since its inception, the Future of Education in Africa Conference has grown into a recognized continental platform, engaging participants from over 30 countries and convening more than 1,300 stakeholders, while producing influential outcomes such as policy declarations and cross-sector partnerships.

In the words of Sharifah Baluka, East Africa Regional Director of ACYDEAI:

“Africa’s future workforce will not emerge by chance—it must be deliberately built through bold reforms, strategic partnerships, and innovative education systems. This conference is a catalyst for that transformation.”

The 2026 edition is expected to attract 300–500 participants from across Africa and beyond, culminating in a policy communiqué that will provide a roadmap for strengthening education systems and enhancing workforce readiness across the continent.

As momentum builds toward the conference, ACYDEAI calls on governments, development partners, private sector actors, and media organizations to join this critical continental movement and contribute to shaping Africa’s next generation of leaders, innovators, and workforce.
